Finally!

After scheduling my observations for the 4th time, I am going to do them tomorrow and Wednesday. I guess last minute is better than not at all. I am excited. I am actually going to observe in three different schools. Not only will I get to see how different teachers handle things, but it will be interesting to see how the different schools do things. As hard as I had to work to make these arrangements to observe, I am going to take every little bit of information that they will allow me to take with me when I leave. I will be blogging tomorrow about the things I observed.

VOCAB (BINGO)

This game is played similar to other types of bingo games. The difference is that the teacher gives the definition of a vocabulary word, and the students have to mark the correct word on their VOCAB card. When they have completed the pattern specified by the teacher, they call out “VOCAB.” If they are correct and can use at least one of the vocabulary words in an appropriate sentence, they are declared the winner of that round. Play continues until all vocabulary words have been used at least once.

I give this book 4.5 stars. It is a a book for young readers, but I enjoyed the descriptions of the classroom and the teacher that were used. Cara Landry, a fifth grader in the class that every student dreaded being in, writes a negative news article about her teacher, Mr. Larson. She puts it on the bulletin board in his room, and the other students gather around and read it. When the teacher finds it, he is furious. This is the beginning of a whole series of things that bring out the good and bad in the characters. Read "The Landry News" to see what happens to Cara, the teacher, and the whole school after this article changes everyone.
