Observations

I definitely saw things while observing that I can use in my classroom. It is nice to see good teaching strategies and ideas. I am glad that I got to go to the school I did. After having to schedule it for the 4th time, I was very discouraged, but the teachers were quick to offer encouragement and invited me back any time. They were so willing to share the things that they had. It was a welcome change from what I have been used to in other schools. They made me hope that they have an opening next year.I was able to see many things that were similar to the concepts and strategies that we have learned in our classes this semester. I think the one thing that stood out to me most is that one of the teachers modeled the “demonstrate, guide, and independent work” strategy similar to our mini-lessons. This is definitely a concept that I would be comfortable using in my classroom. It was great to see it working in person. The students were very responsive to this technique. I look forward to trying this strategy, along with the other strategies in my own classroom sometime very soon.
