I have decided to leave my non-education job and return to education. That being said, I am ready to return to the classroom, but I am undecided if I would like to return as a paraprofessional or a substitute teacher. There are openings for both in my area, but I haven't decided which would be better. I am going to substitute training tomorrow, and I am planning to stop by the Special Services Department and talk to them. Hopefully by the end of the week, I will have made my decision and be on my way to returning to the classroom very soon.
I am excited about the possibilities of using my employment to enhance my school work. It will be so much easier to use the class that I am "teaching" or working in to try the things we are learning about right now, instead of having to guess how the students will react to what we are trying to accomplish and use my imagination to complete assignments. Even though I will have to share the classes I work in with the classroom teachers, I am planning to use these opportunities to enhance the knowledge and ability I have and to better prepare myself for teaching in the future.
